Economics Professor Named Kania School of Management Professor of the Year

Aram Balagyozyan, Ph.D., assistant professor of economics at The University of Scranton, was selected by the University’s Business Club as the Kania School of Management Professor of the Year.

Dr. Balagyozyan joined the faculty at Scranton in 2011. He also has been a regular visiting faculty member at the international M.B.A. program at the City University of New York. His research interests are in the areas of decision making under uncertainty, macroeconomic pathologies, state-space econometrics and econometric modeling of extreme events.

Previously, Dr. Balagyozyan taught at the College of Staten Island of the City University of New York, as an assistant professor in economics and finance, and as a visiting professor of economics at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut. He worked as a research associate at the New York State Banking Department.

Dr. Balagyozyan recognizes the academic excellence of his students by inducting “outstanding men and women” who finish at the top of the class he teaches with induction into the “Balagyozyan Hall of Fame.”

A resident of Wayne, New Jersey, Dr. Balagyozyan received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yerevan State University, Yerevan, Armenia, and holds a doctorate in financial economics from the City University of New York.
